TEN GOOD STREET SCENES   Everybody seems to want these and they are certainly becoming more difficult to find.  Here’s a little lot of ten busy streets with people and old transport (some trams).  They are:   Humberstone Gate Leicester;  High Street Stockton on Tees;  Deansgate Manchester;  Queen Street Newton Abbot;  Anlaby Road Hull; The Parade Leamington Spa;  St Peters Street Bedford;  Union Street Aberdeen;  Donegal Place Belfast;  Grafton Street Dublin. First telephone call secures (sorry only one lot)   £20

BRITISH CHURCHES   One hundred early cards, majority are Church exteriors, many villages, also Portsmouth’s Garrison Church with military and naval presence.  Could be of interest to genealogist, fair to good   £22  

MIDDLESEX   Two b&w of the Tram Terminus with trams at Hampton Court one used 1905,  paddle steamer at Twickenham Ferry, Harrow School (2), Shepperton village and lock, Hounslow High Street, Datchet village etc and others, nice lot, 21 cards   £40 

PETTICOAT LANE   Tightly packed crowds round busy stalls, four b&w cards in fair to good condition, one postally used 1913, lot   £10 

HAMPSTEAD   Bull & Bush Hotel imposing buildings in own grounds with several notices including Ind Coope, Billiards, skittles, Entrance to Terrace and Gardens etc, b&w used 1905, slight postmark  offset on face, otherwise good   £4 

WOOLWICH   The Free Ferry absolutely packed with passengers c1905 (well, everybody likes a free ride), a photographic card with a little corner creasing, unused   £7 

HOLLAND ON SEA   Several buildings including a church/chapel and a double decker bus, very good used b&w at Clacton 1932   £8 

READING   Two views of busy Broad Street taken from almost the same spot.  One is real photographic with lots of animation, horse and carts, tram and good shop views including Hepworths tailors and Boots Chemist and used in 1909.  The second card also with animation, shops, trams, trams etc is black and white by Tucks and is unused.  Both in very good condition.  A fine and interesting pair   £16 

HARPENDEN   Streets with shops and shoppers and a few 1930s cars, Valentines photographic card  in fine unused condition   £5 

LUTON   Two real photographic cards, one of George Street with Lloyds Bank, shops and policeman, other with tram at New Bedford Road, fine unused pair   £10 

ROTHERHITHE    Close up of the entrance to the tunnel with horse and cart advertising Nestles Milk, also other traffic and pedestrians, photographic card by local publisher A Westbrook, fine used 1909   £9 

DOVERCOURT   The Lane, very rural with horse and cart, b&w card used at Sheerness 1911, slight wear at corners, otherwise good   £4 

SOUTH NORWOOD   busy Portland Road with adults and children, good shop views, milk delivery from horse and cart etc.  Coloured card used with 1906 machine cancel, corner crease, a little scuffing    £3 

ABINGER HAMMER,  SURREY   Figure on the building used the hammer to strike the bell to indicate it’s 10 o’clock.  Tucks real photographic card in fair to good condition   £3 

EPSOM DOWNS   The Derby with huge crowds, motors and a packed grandstand, b&w by Daniell, postally used at Epsom June 10th 1905, good condition, minor creasing   £6 

ROCHESTER   Star Hill with good view of tram number 39 near top, postally used with Gillingham RSO July 1906   £6 

HAYES,  KENT   Botwell Lane with three boys posing in middle distance but no traffic.  Real photographic used at Sevenoaks 1912, good condition   £7 

CHARING,  KENT   High Street devoid of people, must be early morning, photo type c1905, very good unused £5 

ASHFORD,  KENT   Bank Street with shops, photo type c1905, very good unused   £6 

SEABROOK,  KENT   Residential area with Victorian villas each side of the road, early b&w good unused   £6 

SWALECLIFFE,  KENT   Thatched roof Post Office in this village near Whitstable, coloured card by local publishers  Ridout Bros, used there in 1906, minor scuffing at two corners, otherwise very good   £9 

HAWKHURST,  KENT   Highgate with outfitter’s shop on corner, also a horse and cart in middle distance, small corner crease   £4 

NEW ROMNEY   Photographic multi-view by Valentines with five views including two of the miniature railway, used 1954, good condition   £2 

SUSSEX  CHURCHES   Nearly all exterior views including East Chillington, Ovingdean, Henfield, Fittleworth, Wisboro Green, Rotting dean (restored by Gilbert Scott) and others, 25 cards   £20 

NEWHAVEN   The Harbour with shipping, good overall view including cranes, railway lines etc, coloured card very good unused   £6 

NEWHAVEN   New Lane early b&w with children playing and women gossiping at the backs of houses, community atmosphere, good unused   £5 

WORTHING PIER WRECKED   Photographic multi-view (5 views) showing the extent of the wreckage sustained  on 23rd March 1913, Howell photo postally used, very good condition   £8 

BOGNOR   The Stamp Room at North Bearsted showing the interior with long strings of postage stamps hanging from the ceiling, a great tourist attraction, good used 1906   £8 

HAMPSHIRE  &  ISLE  OF  WIGHT   Several Southampton with street scenes, Floating Bridge, Sports Centre, Lyndhurst Golf Links, Portsea, Southsea, Alton High Street, watching the races at Ryde, Needles etc, good condition, 48 cards   £55 

ST MARY BOURNE,  HANTS   Frith photographic of the village showing thatched cottages, bridge, signpost etc, very good unused   £7 

ANDOVER   Weyhill Road looks more like a country lane here, real photographic but a little faded, postally used with Andover skeleton c1906   £7 

ANDOVER   The Round House at the junction of two roads, direction signs to Amesbury and Exeter on the side of the house, b&w very good unused   £5

KINGSCLERE   A snow covered church in 1908, real photographic but a couple of creases, used   £4 

BASINGSTOKE   Winchester Street with corner hotel and shops, coloured card in the Celesque series, attractive but small creases   £2 

BISHOPS WALTHAM   High Street with shops and a cycling postman, b&w used with fine Swanmore circ date stamp, very good condition   £8 

STUBBINGTON,  HANTS   The Malt House, early b&w card of this part of the village, includes shop  and a small group with a cyclist, fair/good unused   £6 

ROMSEY   Osborne House School, Headmaster William Summers, b&w multi-view, five different views including pupils, slightly soiled and a tiny tear   £3 

OSBORNE I O W   The Swiss Cottage, H M Office of Works b&w card good unused   £3 

FAWLEY   Coloured FGO Stuart card showing the windmill in attractive New Forest scene, used at Lyndhurst in 1905, very good condition   £7 

LYMINGTON   Busy High Street with shops, horses and carts etc, this is a real photographic card in very good condition, although a little faded it still captures the scene.  Used at Lymington 1909   £8 

NEW FOREST   Two FGO Stuart cards used 1905-06, one of Peterson’s Tower, other of Emery Down, both in very good condition   £6 

NEW MILTON   Station Road with good view of shops, sepia card good unused   £4 

HINTON   Cat and Fiddle Inn, thatched pub with large sign, an early view on a Peacock series card, road outside in terrible condition but card in good unused condition   £4 

CHRISTCHURCH   Two lovely views of Mudeford, one of the Black House, the other with houses, people, children playing etc, both c1910 in fine unused condition, pair   £15 

CHRISTCHURCH   Iford Bridge with river view and boating, coloured FGO Stuart card used 1906 at Boscombe   £4 

BOURNEMOUTH   Pier approach with good 1930s transport interest including two single-decker buses and several cars, real photographic by Wade, fine unused   £5 

BOURNEMOUTH   The Arcade interior showing shops including Brights, Wrights Jewellers and the cigar shop, b&w Peacock card c1904 in very good unused condition  £8 

BOURNEMOUTH   Interior of the very decorative King’s Hall Rooms attached to the Bath Hotel, reverse with advert for the rooms, ‘The most unique and beautifully appointed dancing rooms in the country’, postally used 1923, good condition apart from a tiny pinhole   £5 

BOURNEMOUTH   The frozen fountain in the Upper Gardens, photographic card good unused.  That must have been a bad winter.  No date but early   £4 

BOURNEMOUTH   Charabanc tour from Bournemouth to the Isle of Wight in 1931 with a lot of smiling passengers, very good unused   £4 

BOURNEMOUTH   Fisherman’s Walk Pokesdown, coloured card used in 1911 showing houses  and single storey building which looks intriguing.  A little corner wear otherwise good   £4 

POOLE   Sandbanks Ferry with cars waiting, real photographic card fine postally  used in 1952, doesn’t show the actual ferry but you can spot a few differences   £6 

LULWORTH COVE   with a paddle steamer (too shallow for them now), fine photographic by Photochrom, unused   £3  

WEYMOUTH   New  Town Bridge in sparkling condition just after it opened.  It’s still there of course but looking its age now.  Photographic card used in 1932 in very good condition   £5 

SHAFTESBURY   St James Lane with horse and cart, local sepia by Pearson & Son, unused in very good condition   £4 

FONTMELL MAGNA,  DORSET   View of village cottages but devoid of people, real photographic in the Wessex series, postally used at Shaftesbury 1909   £5 

SHROTON,  DORSET   Village view with houses and other buildings and a horse and cart in mid distance, very good used at Shaftesbury 1908   £7 

HONITON LACE   Two b&w cards by R & M Tucker of Honiton, the big lace making centre.  One shows lady making lace, the other Honiton High Street, both with a background of lace.  Pair in very good unused condition   £10 

DARTINGTON,  DEVON   Fabian Summer School held at Dartington Hall, photographic multi-view by Bassett Lowke showing delegates etc.  Fine unused, no date, 1960s?   £5 

ILFRACOMBE   A busy beach scene, photographic by Rapid Photo, good used 1910   £3 

WESTON SUPER MARE   Anchor Head with a large crowd of people on the sands, all well dressed, no sun bathing, must have been a cold day, very good unused, local photographer Gale   £4 

BRISTOL   The Old Dutch House on High Street showing a few shops and the Wine Tree, very attractive highly tinselled card in very good condition, unused   £6 

THE LAST CAR FROM CHELTENHAM   Comic card by Cynicus showing dozens trying to get on the (already over-loaded) vehicle.  No destination.  Postally used at Cheltenham 1907, very good condition   £5 

OXFORD   About 27 river views, many with rowing including some ‘Oxford Eights’ c1910, five undivided backs, St Giles Fair used 1905, three military camps OTC under canvas with men firing at targets postally used with MARLBOROUGH LINES cancels 1909.  Also some of Oxford’s fine buildings, colleges etc.  Many photographic in this lot in good/very good condition.  88 cards   £60 

NEWMARKET   A long string of racehorses and riders parading down the main street, good real photographic card with a little scuffing, reverse with printed Christmas greetings and postally used to Melbourne Australia Nov 1905   £9 

GRANTCHESTER,  CAMBS   Village view with cottages and 1950s car, real photographic  unused in very good condition   £4 

BURY ST EDMUNDS   Abbeygate Street with Bullings Drapery and other shops and you can also fill up with Shell from the petrol pumps, fine photographic card by Offords, unused   £9 

BURY ST EDMUNDS   Another photographic view of Abbeygate Street in the Boots Chemist series, shows very large building with columns (Guildhall?), National Provincial Bank etc, fine and unused   £9 

SOMERLEYTON VILLAGE,  SUFFOLK   Pretty with thatched cottages and a couple of horse and carts, b&w card in fair/good unused condition   £3 

ELY   High Street with good shop views, coloured card good used   £6   

MARCH   The Bridge and High Street, White Hart with old car outside, shops etc, photographic card used 1936, very good condition   £6 

SANDRINGHAM   Scene at The Avenue after the gale on Feb 22 1908 - fallen trees block the road.  Real photographic by Ralph of Dersingham, fine unused   £6

WALTON,  PETERBOROUGH   Village view with houses and a middle distance tram with driver posing for the photographer, fine used sepia card with rubber cancel c1915   £8

WARWICKSHIRE   Leamington (2 street scenes), Coventry (3), Rugby (3) including cricket match in progress, Wolverhampton (4), Sutton Park (2),  and others, a few streets.  21 cards in very good condition   £21 

DROITWICH   High Street with good shop views and signs, two men with cart etc, very good b&w   £5 

CHIPPING NORTON   Set of seven in original packet including Market Place, The Leys, New Street, a glimpse of the railway and two of the Rollright Stones, very good condition   £7 

BROADWAY   Entrance to the village with a couple of  1930s cars and the Swan Hotel, photographic, good unused   £3

SNOWDON   Two real photographic cards by Lilywhite, one showing the arrival of the steam train from the summit with passengers, also an ancient car.  The other card  shows the view from the summit, both fine unused, pair   £9 

CERES,  FIFE   Old Tolbooth and Jougs, uniformed man and bike outside, sepia card by Gilmour of Cupar, very good unused   £5 

FOYERS   The pier with a steamer at Loch Ness, good used at Inverness 1908   £3 

ISLE OF MAN   Comic card showing train with one coach puffing madly up the gradient and passengers pushing from behind.  Caption is ‘The Isle of Man Express’.  Used at Douglas 1913.  Tear at base but a scarce card   £3
